Development of a self-monitoring platform for air pollutants utilizing artificial intelligence based sensor calibration and uncrewed aerial vehicles

This research project focuses on developing an advanced self-monitoring platform for air pollutants by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) for sensor calibration and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) for dynamic data collection. In response to the limitations of current monitoring systems in South Korea—such as manual measurements, low spatial coverage, and inaccuracies due to environmental factors—the platform uses AI to continuously adjust sensor readings in real time, ensuring accurate measurements. UAVs equipped with multiple sensors are deployed to monitor emissions in hard-to-reach or hazardous areas, providing real-time, high-resolution air quality data. This system aims to offer a scalable and precise solution for monitoring air pollution, especially in industrial zones, improving regulatory compliance and environmental management.
